Using
laser-based technology, the system scans and captures a two-dimensional
digital profile of a surface. The profile represents the height and
depth of the surface along the length of the laser line, also called the
field-of-view. Measurements of features such as the width of a gap
or the depth of a pit or scratch, are made using the x,y
coordinates in the profile. Powerful, proprietary software automatically
identifies, measures and analyzes the geometrical features and characteristics
of the surface contour. Features such as pits, dents, wear, corrosion,
gaps, steps and scratches can be measured and parameters of interest on
welds, rivets, fasteners, stampings and embossments can be analyzed. |

Each
LaserGauge
system consists of a controller and a sensor. Custom software programs
allow systems to make automatic measurements on specific parts. The
controllers and sensors have different capabilities that can be matched
to fit the unique requirements of an application.
Controllers - The portable
system can be used for multiple applications at different locations in
the plant. The PC compatible version utilizes the additional processing
and graphical power of the user's own computer and is perfect for measurements
made at one location. The rugged NEMA industrial system is used for
stationary or on-line applications.
Sensors - Hand-held sensors
are used in portable and dynamic applications. The remote model is
used for stationary or on-line inspection functions.
Software - Customized application
programs automate repetitive measurements while the communication software
allows recorded measurement values and profile scans to be archived and
downloaded to a PC for subsequent analysis. |
