Each LaserGauge system consists of a controller and a sensor.  Sensor selection will be determined by the user's application, the field-of-view required and the resolution desired.

Sensors are used to acquire two-dimensional surface contour data and transmit it to the controller for processing, display and archival.  Using a visible semiconductor laser, the sensor obtains an array of up to 500 x,y coordinates from almost any surface.

HS300 Sensor
Sensor models are designed to measure surface contours at varying resolutions dependent upon the field-of-view.  A field-of-view is the length of the surface profile that can be captured at one time by the sensor.  The surface feature or features being measured must fall within the selected length or field-of-view.

Sensors come in two basic configurations: hand-held devices used for portable and dynamic applications (HS300 and HS400 models) and a remote model for stationary or on-line inspection (RS400).  The table below shows the relationship of resolution and depth-of-focus for each field-of-view available on the sensor models shown.  The resolution given is an average for typical surfaces¾actual resolution depends on the surface being measured.
