Each LaserGaugeŽ system consists of a controller and a sensor. The sensor captures the contour of a surface and transmits it to the controller for processing. The controller runs Virtual Gauges or LGBasic algorithms to extract measurements from the digitized contour, displays the plotted contour if the controller has graphical capabilities and saves the measurements to a file.
The selection of a controller is based on several factors: type of application, the need to view measurement plots or use images of the part being inspected as instructions for the operator, weight and size, need for wireless communications with a network and operator preference. Multiple sensors can be used with a single controller and most models are compatible with all controllers.
